These terms are an agreement between you and KuikCode (“we”, “us”) covering kuikcode.com, the KuikCode app, kuikco.de short links, and kuik.page hosted sites (together, “the service”). By creating an account or using the service you accept them. You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to hold an account.
KuikCode is in early access. That genuinely matters for these terms: the product is free today, features will change, and occasionally things will break. We've written the sections below with that honesty in mind.
1. The service
KuikCode lets you create dynamic QR codes — the printed pattern encodes a short link that never changes, while you control where it points: a website, a PDF, an image, a phone number, a location, smart rules, or a site we host for you. We provide scan analytics on top.
During early access all features are free. When paid plans launch we'll give account holders clear notice before anything you rely on requires payment, and codes you created won't silently stop working because pricing arrived. Free use — during early access and any early-access benefits we honor afterward — is subject to fair-use limits we'll publish before they apply. Whatever plan you're on, a printed code keeps redirecting: if a paid feature lapses, routing falls back to the code's default destination rather than breaking.
2. Your account
Keep your credentials secure and your account information accurate. You're responsible for activity under your account. Tell us immediately at hello@kuikcode.com if you believe it's been compromised.
3. Your content
Everything you upload or create — logos, images, PDFs, hosted-site files, QR designs — remains yours. You grant us the license we need to operate the service: to store, process, and serve that content to people who scan your codes or visit your hosted sites. We don't use your content for anything else, and the license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for short-lived backups.
You're responsible for having the rights to what you upload and to any destination you point a code at.
4. Acceptable use
You may not use KuikCode codes, destinations, or hosted sites for:
- Malware, phishing, or anything designed to deceive the person scanning.
- Illegal content, child sexual abuse material, or content sexualizing minors — zero tolerance, immediate termination, reported where required by law.
- Harassment, hate, or incitement of violence.
- Infringing others' copyrights, trademarks, or privacy.
- QR codes directed at children under 16 or placed on child-directed materials.
- Collecting sensitive personal data (such as health or financial data) through destinations reached by your codes without the legal safeguards that data requires.
- Probing, scraping, overloading, or otherwise interfering with the service or other people's codes.
If your QR destinations or hosted sites collect personal data from the people who scan, you are the controller of that data and must comply with the privacy laws that apply to your audience (GDPR, CCPA, and similar).
5. Hosted sites on kuik.page
Hosted sites serve static content you upload, on a subdomain like yourname.kuik.page. A few specifics:
- Subdomains belong to KuikCode and are assigned to you while your site exists. We may reclaim a subdomain that infringes a trademark, impersonates someone, squats a reserved name, or belongs to a deleted account.
- We enforce technical limits (file types, file count, and size) at upload; these may change with notice.
- We may remove hosted content that violates section 4, and will notify you when we do unless the law prevents it.
6. QR codes and destinations
Your printed code encodes a kuikco.de link that redirects to whatever destination you currently point it at. Destinations you don't host with us are outside our control — we're not responsible for their content, availability, or data practices. If your account is terminated for violating these terms, your codes stop redirecting; that is an intended consequence, not a defect.
7. Our intellectual property
The KuikCode platform, design, and brand are ours. These terms don't grant you rights to them beyond using the service. If you send us feedback or ideas, we can use them without obligation — and we genuinely read them.
8. Copyright complaints
If you believe content hosted on the service infringes your copyright, email hello@kuikcode.com with the work, the infringing URL, and your contact details. We remove infringing content promptly and terminate repeat infringers.
9. Termination
You can delete your account at any time; your codes deactivate and your data is deleted per the Privacy Policy. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms — immediately for the zero-tolerance items in section 4, and with notice and a chance to fix it for the rest.
10. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is”, and during early access without any uptime commitment. We work hard to keep scans routing every second — that's the entire point of the product — but we can't warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, and we make no warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages — including lost profits, lost data, or the consequences of a missed scan. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the greater of US$50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, such as for fraud or willful misconduct.
12. Changes to these terms
We'll revise these terms as the product grows — at minimum when paid plans launch. For material changes we'll email account holders at least 14 days before they take effect; continuing to use the service after that means you accept the revision.
13. Governing law
We'll name the operating entity and its governing law here when KuikCode reaches general availability. Until then, disputes will be resolved in the courts of the jurisdiction where the KuikCode operator is established, and we'd much rather resolve anything by email first: hello@kuikcode.com.
